When you’re rushing through the day and the light turns red, what is the first thing you do? Most of society looks around and checks out things like license plates, bumper stickers, and the landmarks around them. Seriously, how many times have you gone home and said, “I saw this bumper sticker today and it said…” This happens all the time and we’re influenced by the little things more than we realize. If you’re a business owner, it’s time to use this to your advantage.
Getting some bumper stickers advertising your business could be a great way to give your business a boost! You could print your website url, business name, or something cute and witty on bumper stickers and put them on your vehicle to get attention when you’re sitting in traffic. When the vehicles around you are stuck in traffic, they might jot down your website. But even if they don’t write it down, chances are they will remember it in the future.
Of course, catching their attention is the key. Your bumper sticker needs to jump out and be seen. Here are some things you should consider to make your bumper sticker eye catching:
*Color- Obviously you don’t want to go crazy here, but it definitely needs to stand out.
* Your Brand – You definitely want your bumper sticker to reflect your brand. You want to be instantly recognizable. Think about how McDonalds and other businesses command instant attention with their branding.
* Positioning – Position the bumper sticker where it is easily visible to other drivers. You want it to be easy to see. Also, don’t mix it in with other bumper stickers where it will lose its impact.
* Make Sure It’s Readable – Use a clear, easy to read font. Make sure the letters are large enough to see it from a car length away. People must be able to see it and read it.
* Make It Memorable – You want people to remember your bumper sticker. So use what you can to make it memorable. This could be a catchy saying. Perhaps it is a great url. Or it could even be good use of contrast that catches attention.
Alright, now it’s time to think about the big picture. Can you imagine if you live in a small town or city that has 50,000-100,000 people? How many eyes will end up seeing your customized bumper sticker at say 4 stop lights? Even when the light turns green they’re still thinking about it. Then of course they will forget eventually, but the seed has been planted for the days to come.
Later on down the road they may come across your branding again and recognize who it belongs to from the bumper sticker. Then again, maybe it’s just a random memory stimulation while washing dishes. Whatever the case may be, you’ve just become a little more familiar to those around you. Plus, all the customers and potential customers that are soon to follow.
